MACC can search my home – Musa
KOTA KINABALU: Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman will give his full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Musa said through his legal counsel Zahir Shah yesterday that the MACC is welcome to search his residence.
The MACC conducted a raid on the residence of Musa in Luyang last Wednesday but did not seize any items.
Zahir said in a statement on Friday that the MACC confirmed that a team of investigators went to the residence of the Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chief but did not take anything.
Last Monday, the house of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan was also checked and he was questioned by MACC on suspicion of having received RM20 million to take sides with Musa in the 14th general election on May 9.
Musa’s whereabouts is still a question as police are still looking for him to record his statement for allegedly intimidating Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Ramli Din had said on May 24 that Musa was not in Kota Kinabalu and police were also unsure if he had left the country.
An online report quoting sources from the Immigration Department stated that there was no record of Musa exiting the country, while an English language portal reported that Musa is believed to have fled the country, either for Brunei or Singapore, with plans to go to London, the United Kingdom.
Musa was last seen taking a Malindo Air flight from the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) to Kuala Lumpur at 9am on May 14, to attend an Umno meeting chaired by former deputy prime minister and Umno acting president, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He is being sought by the police for investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
The whole fiasco came to light after Musa was sworn in as Sabah Chief Minister before Juhar on May 10 after obtaining a simple majority of 31 out of 60 seats in the 14th General Election when two opposition assemblymen from Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) declared support for Sabah BN, which only won 29 seats.
Two days later, Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, who is also Parti Warisan Sabah president, was sworn in as the new Chief Minister after six Sabah BN assemblymen switched allegiance to Warisan and its Pakatan Harapan allies, which had also won 29 seats in total.
The State Palace had also sent a letter to Musa, informing him that he had ceased to be the Chief Minister effective May 12.
Musa then initiated legal action against Juhar and Shafie to seek declaration that he was the legally elected Chief Minister, prompting Juhar to lodge a criminal intimidation report against Musa.
