100 underprivileged kids get breaking of fast treat
KOTA KINABALU: In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan, Society of Petroleum Engineers, Sabah Section (SPE Sabah Section) hosted a fast breaking event at Tabung Haji Hotel on June 7 for 100 underprivileged children from around Kota Kinabalu. The Malam Cahaya Ramadhan was the fifth event that SPE Sabah Section has organized.
This annual event is aimed to bring joy and festive mood into the lives of the children as Hari Raya approaches.
Orphanages from SK Sembulan, Rumah Amal Kasih Kingfisher and Rumah As-Sakinah Papar were the recipients of this year’s invitation.
In the spirit of Ka’amatan, non Muslim orphanage homes, Care Haven, Rumah Bakti Harapan Inanam and Rumah Bukit Harapan Tuaran also joined the event.
These homes were established between 2008 to 2013 and are located around Kota Kinabalu city. The children in these homes came from all over Sabah and they consist of orphans, poor children and a few with disabilities. Their ages are from four to 20 years old. They attend school and are given education so they can make a difference in their future. The event was co-organized by the Sabah Young Professional Club (SBYPC), a club that brings all the young executives and engineers in the oil and gas industry together to further enhance their competency and creates future leaders. The event received an overwhelming support and sponsorship from 17 caring corporates, mainly from the oil and gas industry.
