Some reps interested to join Warisan — Shafie

-

KOTA KINABALU: Some of the independent elected state representatives that were sworn in yesterday are interested to join Warisan Sabah.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Shafie Apdal said they would most likely communicate with him.

However, he stressed that his focus now was on running the state and to ensure its development.

He also said he wanted to put polemic talks aside.

As for the 39 ADUNs who have sworn allegiance to him, Shafie said he believed the pact was intact and firm.

Nevertheless, he also stated the dynamics of politics, and uttered: “I hope so.”

That said however, Shafie said they already had the simple majority which still allowed them to govern.

“It doesn’t state (in the law) that you need two-thirds majority,” he said.

At the same time, Shafie was also asked to comment on the former Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman’s remarks who had said he had spoken to the Attorney General concerning the petroleum issue.

On that, Shafie noted: “I don’t think he is the chief minister anymore.”

He added that he would speak with the Attorney General on the matter.

He said Sabah’s interest in the matter was similar to that of Sarawak and that he had also spelled out to the Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammed on the ‘wants’ of the Sabah people.
