Shafie is now lawful CM — Madingkir

KOTA KINABALU: Upko’s Paginatan assemblyman Datuk Abidin Madingkir believed that the vote of confidence for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal in the State Legislative Assembly would stop the polemics created by certain quarters for their own interests instead of the wellbeing of the rakyat.

He said Shafie was the lawful Chief Minister with the support from 37 out of 60 state assemblymen.

Additionally, he said 57.8 per cent of the 842,166 voters in Sabah have supported the leadership of Shafie in the 14th General Election (GE14), while 60.2 per cent voted for a change of government in Parliament.

Abidin said GE14 reflected the political maturity of Sabahans.

“Once again, the people of Sabah have the courage to change the government if their leadership has deviated from the right path and no longer appeal to the rakyat.

“The people have also shown their maturity by using their votes to show their power rather than resorting to violence.”

Hence, he urged all assemblymen to respect the voice of the people and stop the unhealthy polemics to ensure the state government could move forward.

Abidin said this when debating the motion of confidence tabled by Deputy Chief Minister Christina Liew towards the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Shafie Apdal at the special sitting of the State Legislative Assembly, yesterday.
