Musa, supporters criticised for no-show

KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Christina Liew yesterday criticised former chief minister Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman and his backers for not turning up at the State Legislative Assembly for the swearing-in ceremony.

“Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman, the assemblyman for N.42 Sungai Sibuga and his backers do not even have the courage to make themselves present at this sitting which is the correct avenue to sort his issue once and for all,” Liew said in the motion to support the present Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Shafie Haji Apdal.

She added that if Musa and his backers were so determined in disputing the legality of the sitting, then they should have come personally to voice their protest instead of hiding behind hostility-issued press releases and resorting to highly publicized legal recourse.

She reminded that there was no other place better than the August House to prove Musa’s legitimacy as the government, as widely claimed by the Sungai Sibuga assemblyman.

“If indeed Sungai Sibuga has the numbers to command the majority in the Sabah State Legislative Assembly, why is he not here today?” she queried.

She added reports in the media that the Head of State, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, has also lodged a police report that he was threatened by Musa and as such he swore in Musa under duress.

“It must also be made known to this August House that Musa vacated Seri Gaya, his official residence, cleaned up his office at Pusat Pentadbiran Negeri Sabah (Sabah Administrative Building) and the other house at Yayasan Sabah, while his key staff also quit. What does this say? If Musa is still the chief minister as he claims to be why did he leave the official residence and office? Doesn’t this tell you a lot?”

She went on that if Sungai Sibuga truly believed in the democratic process, he should have been present at the sitting instead of running away and issuing press statements from thousands of miles away.

“What kind of leader behaves in such a cowardly manner? Sungai Sibuga should be a man and face the law unless he has become delusional and is unable to accept reality due to his obsession with power,” she said.

She also said the government’s politicking time was over, with the people deciding on ousting Musa and Barisan Nasional.
