Duo held for alleged drug pushing

SANDAKAN: Police arrested two suspected drug pushers and seized 345 grams of methamphet­amine on Sunday.

District police chief ACP Mohd Azhar Hamin said the first suspect, an immigrant in his 30’s, was arrested about 11am near Kampung Tinusa 2, mile 7 here with 20 small plastic packets each with transparen­t powder, believed to be syabu weighing about 95 grams with a market price of RM7,200.

The suspect, who tested positive for methamphet­amine, is being investigat­ed under Section 39B and Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“The second suspect was arrested on the same day at around 4pm, at Kampung Tinusa 2, mile 7 here near Jalan Masjid.

The suspect who was riding a motorcycle, was stopped and inspected, and we found five plastic packets of transparen­t powder believed to be methamphat­amine, and cannabis.

“The syabu seized from the suspect weighed 250 grams while the cannabis weighed 5.5 grams, with a total market value of about RM20,000. The suspect also tested positive for methamphet­amine,” Azhar said.

The second suspect is investigat­ed under Section 39B, Section 6 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Azhar thanked the public for providing relevant informatio­n which led to the arrests of the two suspects.
