Tawau Kinabalu Pink Ribbon adopts slogan ‘HOPE’ for run

-

TAWAU: Tawau Kinabalu Pink Ribbon has announced that this year’s Pinktober Run 2018 slogan is entitled ‘HOPE’ to raise the level of awareness on breast cancer.

Its Tawau chairperson, Christy Fe Salazar, said: “We run for Pink, we walk for Pink, we wear Pink for awareness, and Pink is more than just a color or a ribbon. The Pink Ribbon is a symbol for breast cancer awareness in Malaysia and across the globe. Awareness is the key to survival. Pink helps to raise awareness of breast cancer, encourages women to be more proactive about their breast health, and Tawau Pink Ribbon will do its part to raise money to help others. It is a symbol for breast cancer survivors and families that there is ‘Hope’ and that they are not alone in their fight. I know there are too many women out there who have to fight this hideous disease, as I have gone through it myself.”

“Help us in our fifth year and every year to raise the much needed funds to help Kinabalu Pink Ribbon in the fight against breast cancer,” she urged.

Christy thanked the entire Tawau community for standing with her and her group on breast cancer awareness and supporting cause.

“Though we all come from different backgrounds and different social economy, everybody really wants the same thing,” she said when launching the awareness campaign recently at Avon Puteri Ann, Sabindo.

She said women should not take breast cancer lightly as it is still rampant and remains the number one killer among women globally. Breast cancer can be dangerous unless you catch it early enough, and with the right medical attention, it can be cured and one can live life fabulously. this wonderful
