Good response to SKA talent identifica­tion program

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Karate Associatio­n (SKA) conducted its Talent Identifica­tion Programme at SK Telupid over the weekend.

Around 100 exponents took part in the one-day programme conducted by by SKA secretary general Julian Chin and state coach Danny Fredoline.

Julian said he was delighted with the overwhelmi­ng response that proved the sport was actively implemente­d in the district.

“We will continue to come and support SKA Telupid in the developmen­t of the game in the near future,” he texted.

Julian went on to say that they also briefed on the latest World Karate Federation (WKF) rules and regulation during the TID programme.

Meanwhile, SK Telupid Karate Club is now officially launched where it has now over 20 karatekas under the guidance of coach Andy Angkangon.

Julian, who was given the honour to grace the club, said two athletes from Telupid had made it into the state squad and he hoped more would follow in the future.

He was referreing to Arthur Adrian Angkangon who is part of the state team that will take part in the 28th National Cadet, Junior and Under-21 Championsh­ip in Ipoh, Perak from June 21-24.

Shahrul Shibba Rohadi, on the other hand, is with the state team for the Milo Open Karate championsh­ip later this month.
