Kids show dance and chess skills

KOTA KINABALU: The Kids Funtivity Weeks at Centre Point Sabah here started on June 17 with the Let’s Dance Kiddos, a dance competitio­n which attracted 47 young dance enthusiast­s.

Since the children were free to pick the dance style of their choice, the audiences were able to witness a variety of choreograp­hies such as hip-hop, K-pop, street dance, modern dance and contempora­ry dance.

After the children had showcased their best dance to the judges, the event continued with two special performanc­es which were the hip-hop performanc­e by the Queen Planet and the belly dance performanc­e by the S Belly Dance.

The winner was Charming Ruby followed by the Crazy Boys and Beat Kids in the first and second runner-up spots.

The Kids Funtivity Weeks continued the next day with the Junior U12 Chess Tournament, held in collaborat­ion with the KK Kids Chess Club.

A total of 60 participan­ts took part in the competitio­n which was based on Swiss System.

The champion girl was Iry Ivylynda Jason, champion boy: Jephta Eden Mischon, Best U9 (Boy): Habibur Rahman Adnan, Best U9 (Girl): Zea Zandra Janie, Best U10 (Boy): Jackob Justin, Best U10 (Girl): Iry Ivylynda Jayson, Best U12 (Boy): Jephta Eden Mischon (Kids Chess Club KK), Best U12 (Girl): Rebbecca Ericca Emil.

Also present was Edward Chang, General Manager of Pan-Pacific Constructi­on Holding Sdn Bhd.
