Two major cycling events this year
KOTA KINABALU: Cycling Association of Kota Kinabalu are pleased to announce two major events happening this year which they hope will help boost participation among new-comers and seasoned campaigners.
CAKK president Eric Ye said among them was the 4th Mountain Bike Cross Country Challenge which is happening in August.
According to Ye, the event has traditionally been very popular among fans of the sport in the city.
He said CAKK were expecting similar success in terms of participation while hoping it would attract more new comers.
“The MTB XC Challenge is always a big hit among the more avid cyclists who like to push themselves in endurance events. We expect it to be no less successful than last year and this time we are expecting a turnout of 150 participants.
“It will be held at SK Bantayan in Tamparuli on August 19,” said Ye when leading a delegation in a courtesy call on Youth and Sports Minister Frankie Poon at the latter’s office in Wisma Muis.
Meanwhile, Ye said the CAKK would also be staging the 6th Century Cycling Race on November 18. The event is expected to attract up to 600 participants including foreign and local enthusiasts.
Also present at the courtesy call were the ministry’s right hand officials and CAKK council members.
