Louis Koo startles ‘Witness’ co-star Jessica Hsuan with uncharacteristic violent acting
HONG KONG: When actor Louis Koo gets into character for a thriller, he gets so carried away that he frightens his co-stars.
His A Witness Out of the Blue co-star Jessica Hsuan is one example. In the movie, Jessica portrays a character who is visually impaired.
On what scared her, Jessica said: “He gets violent before we are together. Hope that, after ten-plus years, Louis knows how to hold back his strength”
Louis takes on the role of a machine gun-wielding criminal who robs a jewellery store. Commenting on this, Louis said: “They had to seal off the downtown street for the filming. We wanted an authentic police story.”
Also in the movie are Annie Liu, Fiona Sit and Andy On.
According to Louis, he and Jessica are an odd couple in a love-hate relationship.
In the scene where Louis had to beat up Jessica, she said: “We will have to see how rough he will get. The script also says that I am powerless to strike back. For over a decade he hasn’t done anything vicious. This time I am afraid that he will kick me down the stairs!”
A key to solving the case in the movie is a smart bird.
‘Bird whisperer’ Lau Sum Yau is training the bird to understand Cantonese. She said: “I have to learn the tone of an expert, the pronunciation would be harder so I need time to prepare.”
