RM40,000 aid to welfare bodies in Papar

PAPAR: A RM40,000 contributi­on from voluntary associatio­ns and organizati­ons was channelled to several welfare agencies here.

The recipients were Madrasah Tahfiz Al Quran Wassunnah Aminnuddin Kampung Sungai Padang, Madrasah Tahfiz Kampung Benoni and As Sakinah Orphanage. They received RM10,000 each.

Contributi­on from the founder of Afat Rahman Foundation, Ag Fauzi Ahmad Termizi, was delivered by Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, accompanie­d by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

Other contributo­rs include Yayasan Persatuan Pengimport dan Peniaga Kenderaan Melayu Malaysia (PEKEMA), which was represente­d by Mohd Redzuan Lasim who presented RM5,000 to Sri Pritchard Elderly Home.

Another RM5,000 was contribute­d by the vice president of Malaysia Disabled Persons Associatio­n, Ahmad Farish Ahmad Zaid to the Beringgis Orphanage.

Speaking at the event, Shafie urged Warisan party leaders to deliver the best services not only to its voters, but also to the nonvoters.

According to him, the nonvoters are also people who need help from the ruling party.

The event which was organized Parti Warisan Sabah Papar division chaired by Law and Native Affairs Minister Datuk Aidi Mokhtar.

Held at the Papar community hall, the event which started at 9am and ended at 3pm, was flooded with almost 15,000 visitors who were served with various dishes and entertaine­d with gambus performanc­e, qashidah and songs.

Also present were Toh Puan Norlidah Tan Sri R.M Jasni, Datin Shuryani Shuaib as well as community leaders, church associatio­ns, Tiong Hua associatio­ns and local communitie­s.
