PENAMPANG: Kepayan assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang said the concerns over Taman Farmosa access road issue in Bundusan here had been under the watchful eye of the constituency’s service centre.

She said people from the DAP Kepayan service center had before done a quick survey on the road alone and might refer it to the district office to attain information on ways to ensure the safety of the road users there.

Jannie, who is also Assistant Law and Native Affairs Minister, was responding to questions from the press regarding residents’ concerns over the Taman Farmosa main entrance road, which is also the back road for the Gardens Condominium.

According to a Taman Farmosa representative, Bong, the road is not parallel and at the same level and would be a road hazard to public and residents.

In addition, he said there is a couple of high-voltage towers just beside the road.

Bong said the residents urged relevant authorities not to rush the issuance of Occupancy Certificate (OC) for the Gardens Condominium until the safety issues had been resolved.

He also asked Jannie and Moyog assemblywoman cum Assistant Education and Innovation minister Jenifer Lasimbang to address the issue for the the safety of the residents and their children.

New Penampang district officer (DO) Robert Stidi said the council was withholding any further action until an ongoing civil case involving two developers had been adjourned with a definite court decision.

He clarified the council would not issue any Occupancy Certificate (OC) for The Gardens development until a court dispute had been settled and confirmed that the development would not have an official access road.

“We are waiting. I think with the advice of the state AG (Attorney General), we wait for the court so we know the next action by the council before considering the issue,” he explained at the gotong royong program at Taman Kendara 1 in Kobusak here yesterday.

He said the council would consider the concerns of residents and would request for the relevant authorities to deal with safety road issues should there be any requirements to do so.

Meanwhile, Jannie said the gotong royong program was the beginning towards fulfilling her manifesto for a clean Kepayan.

Jannie, who is also DAP Sabah Women Chief, said the initiative included a start-up recycling program at Taman Kendara 1 to encourage the practice in her constituency.
