BlackPink officially the most followed girl group in the world

-

SEOUL: It seems like BlackPink is an unstoppable force. The girls have smashed records, dominated charts, and taken social media by storm.

When the members started their own Instagrams, each member had the exact same picture posted but they each had already gained thousands of followers.

Now that record has been smashed! Each member has about 4 million followers each even though they have less than 25 posts!

On top of their individual Instagram achievements, BlackPink’s official Instagram has the most followers of any girl group in the world! Previously the girl group with the highest numbers on the social media platform was Fifth Harmony followed closely by Little Mix.

Meanwhile, BlackPink’s ‘DduDu Ddu-Du’ beats BTS And Psy To become most-watched Korean music video in 24 hours.

Last month, BlackPink made a huge splash with their new EP Square Up and its lead single “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du”, whose accompanying music video logged the highest 24-hour YouTube debut for a K-pop girl group. YouTube recently confirmed the video’s official first-day view count, and BlackPink can now claim the highest 24-hour YouTube debut of any Korean music video.

“Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” earned more than 36.2 million YouTube views in its first 24 hours, Billboard reports. That’s substantially higher than initial estimates of 33.7 million views, and it puts BlackPink ahead of Psy’s “Gentleman”, which previously held the 24-hour record for a Korean artist with 36 million views. “Ddu-Du DduDu” also surpassed the debut of BTS’ “Fake Love”, which earned 35.9 million views in its first 24 hours.

By outperforming “Fake Love” in its first day, “Ddu-Du DduDu” became the highest 24-hour debut of 2018. BlackPink can now claim the second-highest 24-hour music video debut of all time, behind Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do”, which earned 43.2 million views in its first frame upon release in August 2017.

“Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” also became the fastest music video by a K-pop girl group to eclipse 100 million views, passing that milestone in just 10 days, Billboard reports. It’s the thirdfastest Korean music video overall to accomplish such a feat, behind “Gentleman” and “Fake Love”. The video has now garnered more than 150 million views.

“Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” debuted at No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 last month, and Square Up debuted at No. 40 on the Billboard 200—both records for a female Korean artist, Billboard notes. “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” also achieved a “certified all-kill” in BlackPink’s home country, hitting No. 1 across all major Korean music sites and real-time charts.
