5,500 KK folks join Milo Malaysia Breakfast fun
KOTA KINABALU: The highlyanticipated Milo Malaysia Breakfast Day has returned to Sabah, bringing Milo’s message on the importance of eating a healthy breakfast.
The second leg of this 7-location nationwide program was held yesterday at Padang Merdeka in Kota Kinabalu, where more than 5,500 people gathered to partake in a wholesome breakfast, learn about its importance, and have fun.
Held annually since 2013, Milo Malaysia Breakfast Day is a significant part of Milo’s commitment to a healthier Malaysia, encouraging Malaysians to adopt healthier breakfast habits and more active lifestyles. The breakfast initiative is part of the Milo Aktif Negaraku movement which aims to get 5 million Malaysians to start living an active lifestyle.
This year, the Milo Malaysia Breakfast Day Run returns for a good cause. Milo will contribute RM5 from all ticket sales towards funding breakfasts for underprivileged families across Malaysia. In Sabah, Milo will collaborate with Yayasan Kebajikan Negara, a Malaysian non-profit organisation to ensure that more families in Sabah can enjoy a nutritious and wholesome breakfast.
The run was officially flagged off by Robert Lipon, director of the Department of Landscape, Kota Kinabalu City Hall.
“Following the overwhelming response last year, we are very pleased to return to Sabah for this year’s Milo Malaysia Breakfast Day 2018. While incidence of breakfast in Malaysia is growing, we still see that many, be it adults or children, do not have breakfast – and this is cause for concern,” said Nuraina Tajuddin, senior brand manager, Milo business unit, Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad.
Breakfast is still considered the ‘most important meal of the day’ and eating a healthy breakfast in the morning improves concentration, mood, and performance. Research has shown that up to 80% of retained energy is lost during sleep, making it vital that we replenish it when we wake up, to have sufficient energy to stay active and alert throughout the day.
“We encourage parents to provide their children with a wholesome and balanced breakfast paired with a cup of Milo, which contains the natural goodness of malt, milk and cocoa, and helps to efficiently release the energy from food.”
“This year, the participants of Milo Malaysia Breakfast Day Run 2018 will be contributing to provide breakfasts to underprivileged families. This is especially meaningful as we are able to ensure a wider group of adults and children will have access to a wholesome breakfast,” explains Nuraina.
Following the kick-off event in Kuching last week, which saw some 7,000 people take part, and this event in Kota Kinabalu, the Milo Malaysia Breakfast Day will be held across another 5 locations in Malaysia as follows:
Kuantan - Padang MPK (July 15); Pulau Pinang - USM Padang B (July 22); Johor Bahru - Padang Perbandaran Pasir Gudang (July 28); Kota Bahru - Padang Kompleks Sukan 2, USM KK (August 4); Putrajaya - Dataran Putrajaya Presint 3, (August 11 & 12).
