No bird flu outbreak in Sabah

-

KOTA KINABALU: The Agriculture Ministry said there is no outbreak of bird flu or chicken disease in Sabah.

So far the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Sabah has found out there was only one farm in Tamparuli showing an increase in mortality rate, said the ministry yesterday when responding to viral message on outbreak.

It is believed that the increase in mortality is due to weather changes as the farm is a conventional open house type which is subject to inclement weather.

However, DVS will do further test to ascertain if there is any disease outbreak.

For the moment it is still safe to consume properly prepared and cooked chicken. There is no sign or indication that it's dangerous beside speculation, said the ministry in a statement yesterday.
