-

KOTA KINABALU: A 28-yearold man will know whether there is a case against him on August 3 this year for allegedly robbing a New Straits Times’s Sabah staff correspondent.

Judge Azreena Aziz set the ruling date for Omar Lamat yesterday after the prosecution closed its case with eight witnesses called.

Omar was alleged to have robbed Kristy Inus, 37, of her handbag at a parking lot of Media Prima NSTP office at Penampang Bypass, Jalan Pintas in Penampang at 7.35pm on November 18, 2017.

The offence was framed under Section 392 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to 14 years and also liable to a fine or whipping upon conviction.

Omar, who was not represented, told the court that he has one witness to call for the trial in the defence stage.

Deputy public prosecutor Husna Abdul Halim acted for the prosecution and Omar is further detained in custody, pending disposal of the case.
