Indonesian man jailed over fake IC
TAWAU: A 52-year-old Indonesian man was sentenced to one year in jail by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for using a fake identity card.
Magistrate Herlina Muse imposed the sentence on Jamaludin bin Sangkala to charge under Regulation 25(1)(E) National Registration Regulations which provides three years’ imprisonment or RM20,000 in fines.
The accused was detained on July 4, 2018 at about 10.45 at the Tawau police station after his identity card was found to be fake.
The magistrate also ordered the accused to be referred to the Immigration Department for deportation.
Married with a three-month-old child, the accused never returned to Indonesia as he has no family there.
