No changes in training routine — Pacman

-

KUALA LUMPUR: World champion Manny Pacquiao has no problems or face any distractions in his training routine in Malaysia for the ‘Fight of Champions’, this Sunday.

With only four days before the fight, the 39-year-old Filipino boxing champion said there were not much differences in environmental conditions, local time and weather in the two countries.

“There is no difference between the Philippines and Malaysia...the weather is the same and there is just a small time difference.

“My training routine remains unchanged, as I go jogging in the morning and train at noon,” he told reporters before a warm-up and training session at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Pacquiao also known as ‘Pacman’, is up against the World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion, Lucas Matthysse, from Argentina, in a much anticipated battle at the Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil, this weekend.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao said he was personally satisfied and happy with the great support from the Malaysian government and fans upon the promotion of the event.

“We have been promoting since May and we are glad and happy to bring the boxing spirit here to Malaysia. We are excited with the tremendous support from the Malaysian government and fans as well as from the Philippines,” he added.

Pacman is the only eight-division world champion with 59 wins (38 knock-outs), seven losses and two draws in his career, while Matthysse, 35, had won 39 in 43 matches with 36 of them through knock-outs.

Matthysse, nicknamed ‘The Machine’ for his powerful punches, won the title in January, after beating Thai boxer, Tewa Kiram.

The battle is considered by many to be the biggest boxing event to be held in Kuala Lumpur after the Muhammad Ali-Joe Bugner’s bout in 1975. - Bernama
