The baby elephant was found weak but was aware of its surrounding, she said.

It was brought to Tawau and fed with milk formula as well as fluids intra-venously.

It was then transported to Sepilok and arrived around 5.30am on Thursday.

A full medical check-up performed found the baby elephant alert and receptive to drinking milk, although looking slightly dehydrated.

He was also given oral electrolytes to address the dehydration.
