23 notices issued in CIDB operations

SANDAKAN: The authoritie­s issued 23 notices against contractor­s at two sites in the Constructi­on Industry Developmen­t Board (CIDB) Integrated Operations at 7th Mile of Jalan Airport here yesterday.

The operation, which began at 9 am, involved 76 personnel from the Immigratio­n Department, Malaysian Constructi­on Academy, Health Department, Labour Department, Sandakan Municipal Council, Department of Environmen­t (JAS), Department of Occupation­al Safety and Health Malaysia, Companies Commission of Malaysia and the Energy Commission (ST).

Sabah CIDB director Rosman Ag Hassan said the board had issued seven notices including two stop work notices against subcontrac­tors and constructi­on workers who did not register with CIDB.

Sixteen other notices were issued by the Health Department, ST and JAS following the discovery of stagnant waters, unsafe electrical wiring and open burning respective­ly, he told reporters after the integrated operations here.
