We must continue to celebrate unity – Jaujan

-

SEMPORNA: Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Jaujan Sambakong said Sabah people had always been together when celebrating religious and festivals because the people understood other races and their religions.

He said the attendance of the crowds at his Hari Raya open house, some coming from as as far as the peninsula, Sarawak, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Kudat and Tawau showed a celebration that not only focused on religious celebration, but also showed that the people in the Sabah especially understood people from other races and religions.

He said that not only during Hari Raya open house, the people were always also together during Pesta Kaamatan, Chinese New Year and Deepavali in Sabah.

“This is an example where we see such a state of unity not only must we maintain, but we must celebrate it together,” he said during his Hari Raya open house at his residence in Semporna.

Jaujan said what was more important to the people in Sabah, was our solidarity so that the new government would be able to carry out smoothly whatever it had planned.

“As I said we took over from the previous government and under the new Sabah Government we have a good plan especially for us to build this state so that it can be enjoyed by the people,” he said.

Hopefully, he said this situation could be maintained not only in the event for him, but even during every occasion held throughout Malaysia especially in Sabah.

“The people should be united and supportive as this is important to us.”

About 3000 people, involving ministers, deputy ministers, Chinese community, representatives from government and the private sector attended Jaujan’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house.

He said it was a celebration not only for people with one religion but for all the races, similar to Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Harvest Festival, being celebrated by all.

At the open house, Jaujan also distributed gift and green pack to single mothers.
