The event, organised by the Federation of Sabah Industries (FSI), will feature 54 booths from within the country itself as well as Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

Organising chairman Benjamin Lo revealed during a press conference yesterday that the event was expected to gather over 30,000 visitors.

He added that Deputy Chief Minister cum Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau was expected to officiate at the event.

“FFSI held its first Sabah International Food and Beverage Fair from September 29 to October 1 2017 at the same venue, with astounding results. There were 40 booths occupied by 47 companies, from local and foreign countries, especially neighbouring countries Brunei and Indonesia, Benjamin said.

This time around, the event will feature a more robust selection, ranging from sectors such as agriculture upstream and downstream manufacturing (prepared food products) and food processing (preparation of fresh products for market).

On top of that, the event will also feature booths highlighting the aspects of marketing; food service; grocery, farmer's markets, public markets and other retailing; regulations; education; as well as research and development (food technology).

Thus, the FSI has urged local and foreign business players who are looking into promoting and expanding or conducting market surveys and establishing networks to utilise opportunities provided at the event.

Also present in the press conference were FSI deputy president Richard Lim and vice president of Trade and MICE Dr Andrew Sim.
