COURTS makes harvest festival visits to welfare homes
KOTA KINABALU: COURTS Malaysia celebrated the joy and fesstive spirit of the Gawai and Kaamatan Harvest Festivals with senior citizens at the
One Home Care Centre in Kota Kinabalu and children at the Salvation Army Children’s Home in Kuching.
As part of its Rumah Amal COURTS programme initiatives in reaching out to enhance the lives of members of the communities it operates in, COURTS Malaysia aims to spread unity and happiness during this major festive season in East
Malaysia by providing support to ease the lives of those in need.
The leading IT, electrical and furniture retailer provided the two homes with furniture and home essentials worth over RM19,000 to meet the children’s and senior citizens’ needs. The children received wardrobe cupboards, a shoe cabinet, dining set, clothes hangers, a stove and a full sofa set while the old folks home received a 55” television, microwaves, ovens, induction cookers, blenders and a sofa sets.
Celebrating the beautiful culture, traditions and joy of the festivities, the COURTS team spent quality time together with the residents of the two homes during their visits.

The warm welcome and time spent with the children and senior citizens in both homes really touched our hearts and we are very happy to be able to play a part in making a difference in their lives. Over the course of two days, the COURTS team visited two homes in Kota Kinabalu and Kuching sharing in the excitement and happiness of the festivals with the residents.
At the One Home Care Centre in Kota Kinabalu, the team had the
opportunity to meet some of the senior citizens and spend time learning more about the home from caretakers Ng Chai Choon and his wife who run the home with the help of a senior nurse. While at the Salvation Army Children’s Home in Kuching which is home to over 40 kids ranging from two to 18 years in age, the COURTS team were taken on tour of their hostel. The new cupboards contributed by COURTS will be used in the children’s rooms while the new sofa and dining sets will give the kids a more comfortable place to relax and have their meals.
“We really appreciate the gesture from the COURTS Malaysia staff for the time spent and the contributions that have certainly helped improved the facilities and environment of our home especially during this festive season,” said Major T.Chelvee, superintendent at the Salvation Army Children’s Home who was also formerly raised in the home. Ng said spending time with the
residents definitely brightened their day and it was heart-warming to see the COURTS team show interest in the well-being of the senior citizens. The home essentials such as the sofa sets provided by COURTS has also made the home more comfortable for the residents.”
COURTS Malaysia has been actively engaging in its corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort, through its Rumah Amal COURTS, which was launched in 2015, and continues its ongoing commitment to help and provide the less fortunate with a better quality of life.
To date, the charitable contributions made through Rumah Amal
COURTS have totalled over RM700,000 and have reached over 120 homes and communities nationwide.
The programme aims to provide basic household necessities, such as furniture and electrical items, to homes in need.
