Information Dept to intensify patriotism campaign
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Information Department will intensify the patriotism campaign in conjunction with the National Day Month in August.
Its director, Norzawiyah Bulka, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal is encouraging the department to carry out the campaign aggressively.
Norzawiyah disclosed this after she paid courtesy calls on Shafie and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Jaujan Sambakong at their offices yesterday.
She briefed the two leaders on the role of her department which is to inform the people on the policies of the new government.
Norzawiyah who hails from Tawau, congratulated Jaujan who is also Local Government and Housing Minister, on his appointment and hoped he would take his ministry to greater heights.
Also present during the courtesy call were Sabah Information Department assistant director Arrifin Nordin and two other officers - Community Development and Communication Service Division chief assistant director Wasrin Jakaria and Chindarayareh Jinti, chief assistant director of strategic planning department as well as Jaujan's special officer, Koh Kian Leong,
Norzawiyah, 52, created history for being the first woman appointed as Information Department director in Sabah.
She had worked in Peninsular Malaysia for 11 years before she was posted to her home state.
