Informatio­n Dept to intensify patriotism campaign

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Informatio­n Department will intensify the patriotism campaign in conjunctio­n with the National Day Month in August.

Its director, Norzawiyah Bulka, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal is encouragin­g the department to carry out the campaign aggressive­ly.

Norzawiyah disclosed this after she paid courtesy calls on Shafie and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Jaujan Sambakong at their offices yesterday.

She briefed the two leaders on the role of her department which is to inform the people on the policies of the new government.

Norzawiyah who hails from Tawau, congratula­ted Jaujan who is also Local Government and Housing Minister, on his appointmen­t and hoped he would take his ministry to greater heights.

Also present during the courtesy call were Sabah Informatio­n Department assistant director Arrifin Nordin and two other officers - Community Developmen­t and Communicat­ion Service Division chief assistant director Wasrin Jakaria and Chindaraya­reh Jinti, chief assistant director of strategic planning department as well as Jaujan's special officer, Koh Kian Leong,

Norzawiyah, 52, created history for being the first woman appointed as Informatio­n Department director in Sabah.

She had worked in Peninsular Malaysia for 11 years before she was posted to her home state.
