TUARAN: Family educational seminars such as SToP (reject pornography as a family) is important in the reformation and change agenda of the new Malaysia, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

“At this point, our family and our society structure are struck daily by external influences, especially the ICT technology impact. Family education is very important and the SToP seminar today is certainly very significant,” said Shafie, whose speech was delivered by Assistant Finance Minister Kenny Chua, during the SToP Seminar officiating ceremony at IPG Kent Campus here yesterday.

“We just went through the GE14 and witnessed the change of political landscape in our country, including Sabah. Our main goal is to solve the people's basic needs such as welfare, security guarantee, ease the burden and shackles of the people. We want new politics, new Sabah and Malaysia that is better and fair to all people.

“Therefore, we would like to urge all parties to help mobilize and support the mission of this change. For that purpose, we need to work together to build a lifelong interdependence between peoples or races, working together with all religions and beliefs. We should look for equality points and respect differences. We need to maintain the Sabah culture that is living in harmony with present ethnic and religious diversity,” he emphasized.

The one-day seminar, launched by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also Women, Family and Community Development Minister, was attended by 500 people.
