Crowdfunding project for underprivileged children

-

KOTA KINABALU: The first crowdfunding project in Sabah is set to kick off to raise funds for the underprivileged children of Caring for the Future Malaysia (CFFM) home in Papar.

Initiated by 365CF, The Journey project is aimed at helping local entrepreneurs or inventors bring their ideas to life, or their inventions to production via campaigns organised to generate funding from supporters.

In the form of a concert, The Journey fundraising initiative will also provide a platform for local performers to showcase their talent.

“Aside from helping CFFM, another main reason for organising The Journey is to give local performers, especially those who are learning performing arts, a chance to perform on the big stage. We hope this will inspire them to pursue performing arts as a career,” said The Journey organising chairperson and 365CF co-founder Raymond Soh.

“Performing arts, like life, is a journey. If we can help people along the way, why not?” he added.

Collaborating performers for the concert include J Dance, WMC, Ivy Dance Group, Michael Drum Planet, Prelude Music, Talent Shop and Velomity Dance Crew.

Meanwhile, CFFM founder Mitsuhiko Abe was grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with 365CF, for the benefit of the children at the home.

“Children are our future, and it is very important that we do our best to make sure they are all cared for, and grow up to be good members of society.

“We are very grateful that The Journey organising team are doing this for us, and we hope that there will be more people who come to the concert,” he said.

Established in 2011, CFFM is now home to some 11 local children, where they receive education as well as coaching and training in basic horticulture skills.

Members of the public who wish to take part can donate to make this concert happen on the 365CF crowdfunding website 365day.co/cf/campaign/ thejourney/, and donors who donate RM50 onwards will receive tickets to watch the concert.
