KOTA KINABALU: Eight journalists representing five Chinese and English dailies in Sabah will be participating in the third China trip organized by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu this year.

The media delegates will depart for China on July 24 for the nineday trip.

Chinese consul Zhong Jin said the activity aimed to foster better understanding of the local community towards the development and progress of China.

She also hoped that the reports written by the journalists would enhance the friendship between both countries.

In a briefing session recently, Zhong said the media played an important role in disseminating information at the people and governmental levels between Sabah and China.

She said the past two China trips have produced fruitful results and good response from the media.

“The news report and photography exhibition held following the trip have allowed Sabahans to learn more about China.”

On the other hand, she said the foreign affairs officers who received the media delegates have also gained insights to the Land Below the Wind.

This year, the trip brings the journalists to Jiaxing city at Zhejiang province where they will visit the Nanhu Revolutionary Memorial Hall, Red Boat, Jiaxing Science and Technology City and Wuzhen.

On the fourth day, the journalists will board a highspeed rail to Shangrao city and proceed to visit Sanqingshan, Jingdezhen, Lushan and Jinggangshan.

Meanwhile, Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association (KKJA) chairman Yong Ted Phen thanked the Chinese Government and Consul General Liang Caide for organizing the media trip for three consecutive years.

He said the local journalists had been impressed with the rapid development of China in the previous visits to Xi’an, Ningxia, Beijing, Tianjing, Lijiang and Yunnan.

“We look forward to another fruitful and eye-opening visit this year.”
