Alvin Lim wins Medal A in Tabung Harapan golf tournament
KOTA KINABALU: Alvin Lim claimed the Medal A title at the Tabung Harapan Charity Golf Tournament that ended at the Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC), Luyang near here on Saturday.
Lim won by virtue of a countback decision (OCB) after four other golfers ended the tournament with a similar 37 points.
The second to fifth places comprised Ian Quek, Simon Jwa, Ong Yee Chiong and Richard Chong, respectively.
In the Medal B event, Eric Tsang collected 36 points to win via OCB, followed by Leon Chin and David Lo in second and third place, respectively.
The top three in the Medal C event were K.P. Ong with 34 points, Lau Hui Kii with 33 points and Bernard Lee with 32 points.
Park Ock Nam was the winner in the Ladies category, where she edged Senaida Ku via OCB with both golfers tied at 36 points. Hwang Young Hee was third with 35 points.
As for the Junior event, Mohd Rafiq was the comfortable winner with 33 points, followed by Angelina Hwong and Chanel Lo, who were second and third after OCB with 30 points each.
SGCC president Shiak Vui Ming and Captain Ian Yong, as well as SGCC general committee members also took part in the tournament.
Shiak acknowledged the main sponsor, PROBIOCARE Sdn Bhd, and co-sponsor Transview as well as the golfers for making the event a success.
The tournament, which attracted around 70 participants, raised about RM14,000 to be contributed to the Tabung Harapan Negera.
