Rhinos’ Hector Ramos crowned June Player of the Month

KOTA KINABALU: Hector Ramos said the best has yet to come from him after he was voted as the PFAM-Asiana.my Player of the Month award for June.

Ramos, or Pito to his teammates, was the second Sabah player to win the award in the current season after goalkeeper Robson Rendy Rining for the month of February.

Following this, Pito pledged to work harder in order to help the Rhinos to secure a strong finish in the Premier League and to have an impressive outing on their return to Malaysia Cup action after a six-year absence.

“I’m very happy to have won this award,” said Pito after he was presented with the awards and accompanyi­ng prizes at the Likas Stadium yesterday.

“I want to thank all in the team for leading me to winning this award...the team manager (Datuk Juil Nuatim) and the coaches including (head coach) Jelius Ating.

“To my teammates, they have been great. I would not have score the goals without them... this is for my teammates too.

“Now I will do my best in our last league fixtures (against PDRM away on July 27) and I will also try my best with the rest of the squad for Sabah to have a good Malaysia Cup,” he added.

Pito garnered 52.74 per cent of the total votes for the month of June to emerge as winner with his closest rival being Thiago Agusto Fernandes of Felda United FC 13.76 per cent, G. Mugenthirr­an of Misc-Mifa with 12.73 per cent, Darren Lok of Johor darul Takzim II with 11.38 per cent and Akanni Sunday of Terengganu FC II with 9.39 per cent.

Also for the month of June, Pito scored four goals in as many games and overall, his brace against Felcra FC on Sunday saw him move up to 13 goals for the league campaign.

Pito received a trophy and framed photo from the Profession­al Footballer­s Associatio­n of Malaysia (PFAM), RM500 cash from 139associa­tes and MK, jersey from Paddygear, football boots from AY Sports and hair gel from Major Pomade.

Sabah Football Associatio­n (Safa) acting president Datuk Yusof Kassim, Football Associatio­n (FAM)-cum-Safa vice president Joehari Ayub, Jelius and the rest of the state senior team were present to give their support to Pito.

Also present at the presentati­on yesterday were PFAM chief executive officer Izham Ismail, PFAM president Rezal Zambery Yahya and treasurer Rudie Ramli.
