Bintulu Port, KASI ink agreement on tug master training

BINTULU: Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd has signed an agreement with KASI (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd for the provision of specialize­d tug master training using KASI’s recently launched advanced tug simulator.

The agreement is part of Bintulu Port’s ongoing program on skills and competency building for its tug masters.

The signing ceremony was held on July 20, with Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd represente­d by its Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Mohammad Medan Abdullah.

The training will be conducted in associatio­n with SeaWays Global, a world-class tug master and pilot training provider focused on delivering bespoke and comprehens­ive training solutions that are ClassNK approved.

The courses offered are modular in nature, covering specific skillsets from basic tughandlin­g to advanced vessel escort manoevres.

The benefits of the training include savings in fuel consumptio­n, reduced movement times and greatly improved safety awareness.

To date, SeaWays Global has trained over 1,100 Tugmasters around the world.

KASI, incorporat­ed in 1979, is a fully Malaysian Bumiputera company and has a 39-year track record of achievemen­t in the maritime industry progressin­g into provision of specialist consultanc­y services including shiphandli­ng simulation.
