PETALING JAYA: The new Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general, Stuart Michael Ramalingam has outlined three objectives to improve the management of the country’s football governing body.

The objectives are empowering the FAM affiliates; improving grassroots football development programme such as state league and age-group competitions; and supporting all football-related programmes and events in the country, Stuart told a press conference at Wisma FAM here yesterday.

Stuart said he would use his 10 years of experience in several renowned sports agencies, including Asian Football Confederation and the International Football Federation, to turn the corporate structure of FAM into a better management.

The former Malaysian Super League chief executive officer also acknowledged the huge expectation and challenges ahead, but expressed confidence of getting the cooperation of all stakeholders in Malaysian football to ensure the national body would meet its goals.

Stuart also revealed that he would form an eminent group in his office which he hoped would provide better opinions to improve the FAM organisation and also the Malaysian football as whole.

“Outside FAM, there are a lot passionate and experienced people and I hope with the creation of this group, they will give their time, effort and heart to improve the Malaysian football,” Stuart added. — Bernama
