No elected pro tem Amanah Labuan chief yet

-

LABUAN: Six branch pro tem heads of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) in the duty-free-island here yesterday clarified the peninsular-based party had yet to have its official chief elected by its members.

This clarification was made following the inaccurate news report in a local daily that the Amanah, which is still now only a pro tem, was reported to have already its chief.

The six branches led by its Abu Mahmood said the clarification was needed so as to clear the confusion among its members and the people.

He said it was not the Amanah Labuan having two different factions but the clarification was part of efforts to unify the members.

“Amanah Labuan is establishing branches across the island, as such, newly-recruited members must be well-informed on the party’s current status that it had yet to have the elected chief until the party divisional election is held,” he said.

Abu said the Registrar of Societies (ROS) must first approve the registration of at least two branches of Amanah Labuan before it allows to set up ‘kawasan’ and only then divisional election could be held to elect the official party’s office bearers led by a chairman.

He said the Amanah Labuan pro tem branch heads had met Amanah communication director Khalid Abdul Samad, Amanah Federal Territory chairman Dr Mohd Hatta Md Ramli and Amanah Federal Territory secretary Ismail Yahya here recently to discuss the Amanah Labuan’s political direction and its official establishment.

The six branches established pending approval from ROS are Durian Tunjong led by its pro tem head Datuk Seri Amir Hussien, Bukit Kalam (Abu Mahmood), Batu Arang ( Yahya Saleha), Tanjung Bendera (Aswadee Taba), Taman Mutiara/LDA (Azly Chua) and Kg Sg Lada led by Shahril Salleh.

Amir Hussien said being in the corporate organisation in peninsular, he felt the time has come for him to contribute to the island and the people.

“With years of experiences in economy and business activities, I’m pretty sure, I should be able to contribute to the people here and the island as a whole,” he said.
