Sabah ranked third best in solving crime cases – CP

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is ranked third among the states in solving crime cases by the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), said Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Ramli Din.

Ramli said the Sabah Police Contingent had solved 68.2 per cent of crime cases between January and July 31 of this year.

"Out of 3,273 cases reported in the state between January and July this year, the Sabah Police Contingents had solved 2,233 cases or 68.2 per cent.

"Although Sabah is ranked third overall in solving crime cases, we will not stop there but will continue to work harder.

"Being third is just a number. What is more important is to continue to protect and serve the community as best as we can," he said.

Ramli added that the overall crime indexes in Sabah had dropped to 4.85 per cent or 167 cases in the first seven months of this year.

"The Narcotics Department had also carried out major operations and detained 7,445 drug suspects within the first seven months of this year, compared to 5,062 drug suspects arrested in the same period of last year," he said, adding that 47 drug suspects were charged under the Dangerous Drugs (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985.

Ramli said this at a press conference after witnessing outgoing city police chief outgoing ACP M. Chandra handing over his post to ACP Habibi Majinji at the Karamunsing police headquarters here yesterday.

Chandra will be transferred to the Sabah Police Contingent (IPK) as Head of Strategic Resources and Technology Department, while Habibi was previously the Integrity and Standard Compliance (Wellness/Organization) Department assistant director in Bukit Aman.
