Problem of loud buskers at KKIA resolved

-

KOTA KINABALU: The problem over buskers performing too loud at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) has been resolved, said Deputy Chief Minister Christina Liew.

Liew, who is also Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, said that Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAB) and the Sabah Buskers Community had a meeting and came to an agreement on the matter.

“MAB manager Sunif Naiman had a meeting with representatives from the Sabah Buskers Community today and they have reached certain agreement pertaining to the buskers' performances at KKIA.

“The volume level is to be controlled and streamlined to take into account the general public or passengers' sensitivity, while the number of loud speakers will be limited to only two units and placed facing the performers instead of the general public.

“Discipline and dress code of the buskers members will be streamlined,” said Liew.

On Sunday, Liew pointed out the need to regulate the performers busking at KKIA as they tend to be too loud, causing inconvenience to the people at the airport.

“While we appreciate local talents, I believe the volume should be under control to a reasonable level. The loud music causes inconvenience to the passengers who can't even talk on their hand phones due to the loud volume of the buskers,” she said.
