Slain banker’s family urges Interpol to locate fugitive suspect

-

KUCHING: The family of murdered Sibu bank manager Wong Jing Kui is appealing to the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) to intensify efforts to trace fugitive suspect Tiong King Guan.

According to lawyer Christina Teng, who is keeping a watching brief for Wong’s family, there is a cash reward of RM50,000 for anyone who can provide information leading to Tiong’s arrest.

Wong was found murdered with over 20 stab wounds in his house in Sibu on June 14, 2012. The key persons at the crime scene were his son and wife Ling Hang Tsyr.

The following month, on July 29, Ling took her now nine-year-old son from Wong’s parents’ house in Sibu and moved here to live with her parents.

Only two months later, the police arrested Ling and Tiong – her alleged lover – as well as the hired killer, Ling Hoe Ing, for Wong’s murder.

Hoe Ing pleaded guilty to the alternative charge and was sentenced to 16 years in jail on Oct 1, 2013.

Following his guilty plea, the court gave Tiong and Ling a discharge not amounting to acquittal on their abetment charge, but the charge was reinstated in February 2015 after the prosecution filed an appeal.

A warrant of arrest was then issued against Tiong after he failed to turn up in court when the charge was reinstated.

Ling, meanwhile, was found guilty on Oct 27 last year and sentenced to death for her role in abetting the murder of her husband.

"The trauma for the deceased victim’s parents and child has not ended.”
