Woman found dead at bus stop in Kudat
KUDAT: A 64-year-old woman was found dead at a bus stop near SMK Matunggung, here early Friday morning.
The victim, whose identity has been withheld by the authority, was believed to have been waiting for a transport to take her to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu for medical purposes when she was found unconscious around 4am by a security guard.
According to a security guard, he had earlier seen the victim and her son at the bus stop around 1am.
“I did not take much notice of their presence at that time.
“However around 4am, when I continued my rounds, I saw the woman was still at the bus stop.
“When I found her unconscious, I immediately informed the police and the district hospital,” said the security guard.
Meanwhile, acting district police chief ASP Peter Matinjal said the victim was confirmed dead by paramedics at the scene.
“Police did not find any criminal elements at the scene but there were sign of bruises and swollen on the victim's leg,” he said
Peter also said that the victim was holding a medical appointment card and was believed to be on her way to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical appointment.
Peter said the police investigation also revealed that the victim was with her 30-yearold son, a person with disability or OKU.
The case is still under investigation but for now, police have classified it as a sudden death report.
