The following are snippets on the fifth day of the 2018 Jakarta Palembang Asian Games in Indonesia yesterday:

PARAGLIDIN­G:

The national squad missed grabbing any medals after failing to clinch the top three placings in the men and women’s Individual Accuracy event in Bogor, West Jawa.

Mohd Faizal Abdul Wahab, however, emerged as the best athlete among the four national representa­tives after taking fourth spot in the men’s individual event out of 33 participan­ts with 214 points while team mate, Mohd Nazri Sulaiman was ranked seventh with 367 points.

Two national women’s representa­tives, Asjanita Aini Abu Hassan and Sharifah Nadiah Wafa Syed Mohd Thalal Wafa performed disappoint­ingly after they were ranked 11th and 13th with 2,312 points and 2,492 points respective­ly.

CYCLING:

The national highway cycling squad displayed mediocre action after failing to be among the 10 best cyclists in the 150 km men’s individual event at Subang Roads Route, West Jawa.

Nik Mohd Azwan Zulkifle emerged as the best national cyclist after taking the 11th place out of 55 participan­ts with a time record of 3 hours 26 minutes 07 second, while Muhammad Zawawi Azman finished the race at the 18th placing (3:27:35s).

Two other national representa­tives – Nur Amirul Fakhruddin Mazuki and Mohd Shahrul Mat Amin were at the bottom placings at 35th and 36th both with a time record of 3:32:21s.
