Azhar said the suspects were remanded for further investigation under Section 457 and Section 380 of the Penal Code as well as the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

They were arrested through several operations, namely Op Cantas, Op Lejang, and crime eradication operations.

“There is a 13.8 percent reduction in the crime index from last year to this year. From January to August 2017, 434 cases were recorded while the same duration this year recorded 374 cases,” he added.

Azhar thanked the public for providing information to the police which led to the arrest of the suspects.

He also advised the public to be cautious when purchasing items, especially online, that were sold at very cheap prices because if one is caught possessing a stolen item, he could face legal action under Section 411 and Section 414 of the Penal Code.
