iPay88 launches academy on digital economy

KUALA LUMPUR: iPay88 has launched an academy to educate Malaysians, especially business starters, on ways to embrace ecommerce and digitalisa­tion.

Its Co-Founder and Executive Director, Chan Kok Long said the academy would partner with industrial experts such as Malaysian Digital Economy Corporatio­n and the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creative Centre together with e-commerce enablers like easy parcel and web shaper.

“I believe that people are looking for e-commerce knowledge as the market is moving towards a modern society where everything is market driven, and incorporat­es autonomous payment,” he told a press conference at the launch of the iPay88 academy here yesterday.

iPay88 academy Manager Sharifah Juriah Syed Ashbahar said the first introducto­ry class would be conducted in September, while four other courses would start next year with a target of 600 students by September 2019.

“We will start conducting epayment and digital marketing courses by January 2019 and kick start cross-border e-commerce and train the trainer courses by mid-2019,” she said.

Sharifah said the academy was currently in talks with Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Sabah and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman to incorporat­e the courses in the education syllabus.

“We aim to finalise it by early next year,” she said.

iPay88 is a leading payment gateway providing top online payment collection solutions within ASEAN and has footprint in various countries, including Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

The company has allocated RM300,000 for the programme, which will be conducted for free, as part of its corporate social responsibi­lity. - Bernama
