Father begs adopted daughter to return to take care of her two kids

MELAKA: A father is begging his adopted daughter whom he has not seen for almost eight years to return home to take care of her two young boys who are under his care as he is unsure how long he will be able to continue caring for them.

“Please return home as I don’t know how long I will be able to take care the two boys as they are still young and need full care and love,” said army veteran Mohamad Nor Jantan, 59, referring to his daughter Nurhidayah Ahmad, when met during a visit by PKR Wanita deputy chief Haniza Mohamed Talha and Wanita vice-chief Dr Daroyah Alwi at his home in Kampung Bukit Rambai here yesterday.

Mohamad Nor, said the one of the boys, Muhammad Mukhriz Ruesyaidi, nine, was living with him and his late wife Ramlah Hassan since the day he was born as the boy’s mother, Nurhidayah Ahmad, was only 18 then and too young to raise the baby.

He hoped Nurhidayah would take up her responsibility to raise her children, especially Muhammad Adam Mikail Abdullah, eight, who suffered brain injury and left paralysed after he was abused by Nurhidayah’s boyfriend when he was only six months old.

“There is nothing else that I look forward to except to see my grandchildren, especially Adam (Muhammad Adam Mikail) are well taken care of, as the doctor has confirmed that Adam will be paralysed for life," said Mohamad Nor who raised Nurhidayah since she was a toddler. Mohamad Nor said Adam was under his care since he was six months old when he was admitted to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan Pahang following the abuse incident and Nurhidayah had never return home since.

One of the boys, Muhammad Mukhriz, a student at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Rambai, hoped that his mother would return home to look after him and his younger brother and that he missed her very much.

Meanwhile, Haniza said PKR would cooperate with the Melaka state government to repair Mohamad Nor’s house to give comfort to the family especially to Adam and she would try to arrange the physiotherapy sessions for the boy to be carried out in the house as previous sessions showed positive impact on Adam’s limbs and movements.
