Woman fined over healthcare products, cosmestics

KOTA KINABALU: A woman was fined a total of RM8,000, in default, seven months’ jail by the Sessions Court here for possessing unregister­ed healthcare products and unnotified cosmestics.

Judge Azreena Aziz imposed the fine on Pailin Anak, 44, after the latter pleaded guilty to both the charges yesterday.

On the first count, the unrepresen­ted accused was fined RM5,000, in default, four months’ jail for possessing the unregister­ed items at a beauty premises along Jalan Padas in Beaufort on March 13.

The accused was fined another RM3,000, in default, three months’ imprisonme­nt for her second count of possessing the unnotified cosmetic products at the same day and place.

Meanwhile, a man was fined a sum of RM3,000 by the same court here for two counts of possessing unregister­ed products and products that contained poison.

On the first charge, Bonny Vun, 43, was fined RM1,000, in default, one month’s jail for having the products which contained Tadalafil, a type of poison listed in the First Schedule of the Poisons Act 1952.

On the second charge, the undefended accused received another RM2,000 fine, in default, two months’ jail for possessing those products which were not registered.

The accused admitted to committing both the offences at a premises here on July 12.
