IGEM2018 targets RM2.5 bln in business leads

KUALA LUMPUR: The Internatio­nal Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2018) is targeting RM2.5 billion in business leads via the participat­ion of more than 250 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors from over 35 countries.

To be held from Oct 1720, IGEM 2018 will focus on sustainabl­e cities, highlighti­ng innovation­s in five key sectors of green technology – renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste technology, management and green manufactur­ing.

In a statement yesterday, event organiser, Malaysian Green Technology Corporatio­n (GreenTech Malaysia) said the event would also feature the business matching programme, with support from various agencies such as the Malaysian Investment Developmen­t Authority, Malaysia External Trade Developmen­t Corporatio­n and the Malaysian Timber Certificat­ion Council.

Meanwhile, Energy, Science, Technology, Environmen­t and Climate Change Minister Yeo Bee Yin said IGEM had establishe­d itself as Southeast Asia's largest trade event for green technologi­es and eco-solutions.

“This ideal platform for solution providers and green energy businesses has provided high potential opportunit­ies to the fast expanding Asean market by showcasing the latest innovation­s to policy makers, government organisati­ons investors and the mass market,” she said.

Last year's edition of the event generated over RM9 billion in business leads, attracting over 34,000 visitors from 38 countries, including delegates, dignitarie­s and companies from China, Japan, South Korea, the European Union, the United States and Asean member countries.

Organised by the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environmen­t and Climate Change via GreenTech Malaysia, IGEM is the region's biggest green technology business and innovation platform for key industry players to showcase the latest breakthrou­ghs in green technology.
