Wife, ex-hubby held in murder probe
A former engineering consultant at a telecommunica ons company was sentenced to death by the High Court here a er being found guilty of killing his ex-wife two years ago.
KUALA LUMPUR: The wife of the Chief Executive Officer of Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd Nazrin Hassan, 47, who died on June 14 and her ex-husband have been remanded for seven days beginning yesterday to help in the investigations into the case.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department Chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said Nazrin's wife, 43, was detained in Taman Tun Dr Ismail near here at 2.15 am yesterday.
“Earlier, a man, 43, who was her ex-husband, was detained in Sepang at 1 am,” he told Bernama when contacted here yesterday.
Fadzil said the remand on both the individuals was issue by the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court.
On Aug 15, the local media reported that Nazrin's wife criticised the authorities which she said were not transparent in their investigations into her husband's death.
She also claimed the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) made untrue allegations about the case.
She said although she had written several times to JBPM, she did not receive any report on the development of the case, as it had been classified as a highprofile case.
Responding to her comments, JBPM director-general Mohammad Hamdan Wahid on Aug 16 said the department conducted investigations into the case according to its standard operating procedure.
He said the JBPM had submitted a report on the case to the police for further action and could not make a statement on the matter to the victim's family or the public as this could affect the investigations.
On June 14, Nazrin was reported to have died from smoke inhalation after a fire broke out on the upper floor of his home in Mutiara Damansara, Selangor. It was reported that he was charging his handphone at that time. - Bernama
