Pupils attend program to prepare for UPSR

KOTA KINABALU: A group of 103 Primary Six pupils from SK Gentisan attended a UPSR Excellence Programme organised by Suria Capital Holdings Berhad at Wisma Sabah Ports here.

The programme was aimed to beef up the participan­ts’ final preparatio­n and enhance their excellence in the coming UPSR examinatio­n which is scheduled in the last week of September.

Suria Capital had hosted the programme as part of its corporate social responsibi­lity activities and was the company’s continued commitment to enhance rural education, especially in primary schools.

The programme was also aimed at assisting the teachers in ensuring the pupils had strong motivation and ready for the UPSR. During the talk sessions, the pupils were briefed on the several techniques in answering the exam papers in English Language and Mathematic­s subjects. The invited speakers were Amiruddin Prihatiran Abdullah and Mixedryans­on Reagen Johnson.

SK Gentisan is located just about two kilometres away from Sapangar Bay Container Port and the pupils are mostly from the nearby villages.

After the session and lunch, the pupils and teachers had the opportunit­y to view part of the port operations from the Executive Lounge of Wisma Sabah Ports. The programme was also joined by children of Suria Group’s staff.

SK Gentian students and teachers were led by the school’s senior assistant, Flora Bunding.

Also attending were Datin Mariam Mahmun, Suria Capital’s Head of Group Corporate Affairs and Communicat­ions as the programme co-ordinator and Junita Tajul Ariffin, head of Group Human Resource representi­ng the Group Managing Director.
