Six homegrown bands to perform at concert
KOTA KINABALU: Six underground rock bands from Sabah will take center stage at Rockneo ‘18 on September 23 for the first ever rock concert held at Drum Asia Live KK, Oceanus Waterfront Mall, from 5pm till late.
Rockneo ‘18 brings together some of the best rock bands in Sabah. Bornaya Events, the concert organizer has decided to feature a series of six homegrown outfits: B.O.I.L, The Jethroes, Chugs on Deck, Me Gusta!!, Suistereo and Buzzing Joker!
There is no doubt that Sabah is packed with highly-talented musicians and the six featured bands from different parts of Sabah will showcase just that.
Two of the bands - Suistereo and Buzzing Joker are from Keningau whereas the other four are from Kota Kinabalu. These homegrown bands will surely serenade the crowd with various styles of rock music from postgrunge and alternative postrock to indie rock and stoner rock music. This is certainly an event not to be missed!
Richael Gimbang, Event Director said, “For us at Bornaya Events, our goal for this concert is simple. We want to gather local talented bands in Sabah by providing a stage and platform for the bands to perform and showcase their music as well as to drive the local community into better appreciation for homegrown music. We believe good music must be shared and appreciated through live shows, and for our first rock-themed concert, we are glad to be able to collaborate with friends from KK12 FM, Carrybeans, BK Studios, Benny Liew Studios, Xqvinox, and also Drum Asia Studio, who is the main sponsor of this event!”
Tickets are on sale now through the concert website, www.Rockneo18.eventbrite.com. Student rates are also available via physical ticketing outlet at Music Monster Academy and you can also purchase tickets directly through the bands themselves. Ticket price starts from RM15 (student), RM25 (pre-sale), and RM35 (door).
