Police must take stern acton against sacked aide — Jainab

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno Wanita wants the police to take stern action against the sacked aide of Deputy Home Minister Dato Azis Jamman who was reported to have secretly recorded the underneath of the skirt of a woman.

Its chief, Datuk Hajah Jainab Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Ahmad Ayid said the immoral and disgusting act by the officer is clearly a show of disrespect for women.

“Although Azis Jamman reportedly has sacked the officer concerned, it should not be perceived the case is already over ... the police must take stern action against the person concerned without bias,” she said.

“As a Deputy Home Minister and a Parti Warisan Sabah Member of Parliament, Azis should not have just sacked the officer concerned... That is unjust, a disrespect to women,” she stressed.

Jainab was commenting on viral video and photo of the man recording the underneath of the skirt of an optician inside an optical centre in Kuala Lumpur.

In her police report, the optician reported that while she was examining Azis’ eyes, a man had taken a snap-recording from the underneath of her skirt.

Jainab said that although Malaysia is now led by a new government, the people regardless of gender, race, religion and political ideology must continue to respect one another.

“We don’t want to see that just because the officer works in the Home Ministry (KDN), which is the caretaker of the police, he can act as he likes without respecting the law.

“Thus stern action should be taken against the officer concerned because while he was working for Azis, he was a staff of KDN which enforces the law of this country,” she said.

Jainab claimed that the sacked officer was previously dismissed from the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

The former State Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister wants the police to look at the case seriously because it involves a special officer of Deputy Home Affairs Minister.

“Those who have been proven guilty should be punished according to the law and there should not be any bias, because Malaysia does not practise ‘law of the jungle’,” she said.
