UPKO’s seats won under BN flags in GE14 — ex-Youth chief

-

KOTA KINABALU: Former UPKO Youth chief Arthur Sen has reminded that the party won the seats in the 14th General Election under the Barisan Nasional (BN).

“UPKO won using the BN flags and fund. This is a betrayal of those voters who voted for BN’s UPKO candidates,” he said.

He added that UPKO had put all its supporters and campaigners in dilemma and urged the party to stop manipulating UPKO’s action of joining Warisan and Pakatan Harapan as the ‘aspiration of the people’.

Arthur reiterated that things would have been different if UPKO had left BN before the election and contested independently or under the PHWarisan ticket.

He said that the perception towards UPKO would have been different if UPKO consulted with its supporters prior to making any crucial decision involving only its members.

He reminded that it was the voters who placed them in office today and not the supreme council members.

He also said that the people’s perception might also be different if the party’s acting president, Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau did not take any ministerial positions.

Arthur also disagreed with Youth information chief Dennison R. Indang’s claim that he had lost the majority support from UPKO Youth, calling it as ‘mere assumption’.

“I haven’t started campaigning for the next party’s election. I was approached by a few youth divisional chiefs who informed me of their support if I continued offering myself for the post,” he said.

Arthur also claimed that Dennison wanted to contest for the post of Youth chief. supreme council
