Upgraded job portal can take up to 19 million users

-

Portal Jobs Malaysia 2.0 which was launched yesterday can accommodate up to 19 million registered users, and is capable of handling 40,000 accesses at any one time.

Minister of Human Resources M.Kula Segaran said the job search portal had been improved and was more userfriendly after it was upgraded in 2015 at a cost of RM24.5 million by Mimos Bhd.

Speaking to reporters after launching the portal, he said the improvements were aimed at ensuring employers and job seekers obtain more efficient services.

“The new portal features automatic matching features and provides recommendations on job opportunities that are appropriate and offers opportunities to candidates directly,” he said.

Kula Segaran said the portal, which could be downloaded on Google Play or Apps Store, also came with a psychometric-based career interest test feature as a guide to job applicants.

With these new features, Kula Segaran said jobseekers could find jobs near their place of stay.

“The new system uses geospatial data to find employment opportunities across geographical mapping based on the state and parliamentary constituencie visually and interactively by officers at the Jobs Command Centre,” he said.

He said currently, the JobsMalaysia Portal offered 162,000 jobs in nine categories, including professional, management, technicians, clerks, carpentry and crafts, fisheries, plants and sales and services.

The total job placements through the JobsMalaysia portal in 2015 was 223,967, followed by 176,105 jobs in 2016, 183,433 jobs (2017) and 124,118 jobs for 2018 until Aug 31, he said.

“Employers can advertise job vacancies for free and match jobs through machine tie-ups, with priority given to locals.

“When the jobs are not taken by Malaysians, it would be opened to foreigners, but subject to terms and conditions,” he added. - Bernama
