2,500 OUM graduates to receive scrolls at convocation

KOTA KINABALU: Open University Malaysia (OUM) will be holding its 22nd Convocation from Sept 22 to 23 where over 2,500 graduating learners will receive their scrolls from OUM Pro Chancellor Tan Sri Azman Hashim.

The event, to be held at Merdeka Hall, Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur will also see the graduation of 54 students from the International Open College, a sister institution of OUM.

The highlight of the Convocation will be the conferment of the honorary Degree of Doctor of Arts (Films) to cinematic icon, Datuk Yusof Haslam, for his outstanding contributions to the moviemaking industry.

Also graduating are 294 international graduates from six countries and three graduates from Sekolah Integriti Penjara Kajang, who will be receiving Bachelor’s degrees and a diploma.

At the Institute of Professional Development (IPD) Awards Ceremony on Sunday (September 23), local television and cinematic icon, Dato’ Ahmad Tamimi Siregar Kamaruddin, will receive the Meritorious Award for his contributions towards the development of human capital of the creative industry through lifelong learning.
